Press Round-Up Autumn 2017 | Blue Badge Co
From Retail Ambassador Award to Products Featured in Women's Magazines. A Press Round-Up of Blue Badge Co Coverage this Autumn
Since our exciting article in the Telegraph
, we've had a run of great Press coverage. This was largely thanks to our CEO, Ellen Green winning the WorldPay Everywoman in Retail Ambassador Award 2017, to be one of their 12 Retail Ambassadors. Other news finds Blue Badge Co included in women's magazine wish lists and Ellen Green talking at a Women in Business event. We thought we'd celebrate all this exposure by bringing it together in a Press Round-Up blog post!
Candis October Wish List
Candis magazine included Blue Badge Co's gorgeous William Morris, Marigold Indigo Toiletries Bag as one of the items on their monthly Wish List Giveaway.
World Pay Everywoman in Retail Awards
Back in September, we were very excited that our CEO, Ellen Green was a finalist for two different awards! The award ceremonies were in the same week and we waited with baited breath to discover if she would win. She did!
Ellen was named one of 12 Retail Ambassadors for 2017 at the Worldpay Everywoman in Retail Awards. Various publications, online and in print, reported on Ellen's success as an everywoman in Retail Ambassador. Here's what they had to say about the Blue Badge Co CEO;
"Ellen, who has grown Blue Badge Co from a company run from a friend’s bedroom to a £500,000 business, was selected alongside leading figures from major national retailers such as Tesco, Amazon and Argos. Each year the Worldpay everywoman in Retail Ambassador Programme chooses 12 women from across the UK as everywoman ambassadors to encourage more women to aim for the top jobs within the retail industry."
South West Business
"Passionate about supporting people with disabilities, around 40 percent of Green's workforce are disabled or primary-care givers, meaning they have a first-hand appreciation of disabilities from mental health issues to physical impairments. Green said: “I’m really proud to be named an everywoman in retail ambassador alongside all these amazing women. This is recognition of the hard work and commitment of all of the team at Blue Badge Co who have made the business a success"
Bristol Business News
"Ellen was chosen for her commitment to changing perceptions of disability through the success of Blue Badge Co. The firm is among the first to have identified the growing demand for stylish, design-led independent lifestyle products and travel aids, with disabled consumers now making up a fifth of the UK population – nearly 12m people, up from 10m a decade ago– who, with their households, have a spending power of more than £200bn."
"Ellen Green, CEO of Bristol-based Blue Badge Co – who appeared on back in August 2015 and received three offers of investment, but chose to decline them – was awarded the esteemed title for having grown her brand by 50% year-on-year with turnover in excess of £500,000 and a roster of stockists such as Argos and Boots."
Woman & Home Magazine
The most mainstream publication to feature Ellen Green's success as a Worldpay Everywoman in Retail Ambassador was Woman and Home. The article is not yet available online but you can buy the magazine's October issue in print where you'll find this piece on our CEO: "Ellen firmly believes businesses have a responsibility to be good for society and are only as strong as the teams behind them"
Women in Business Talk
On September 19th, Ellen was one of three speakers at a Women In Business event held by Red Door Coaching and Training at Bristol and Bath Science Park. We published her talk as a blog post after the event. You can read it here: Business Can Either Disrupt Or Be Disrupted. The Gazette reported on the success of the event: "The free event, sponsored by South Gloucestershire Council, was opened by council chief executive Amanda Deeks, who welcomed 80 women to an evening of interesting speakers and networking opportunities." Vashti Seth of Deki.com, Fiona Scott from Fiona Scott Media and Ellen Green of The Blue Badge Co all shared inspirational stories and gave relevant and helpful advice to everyone in small businesses and the world of work."
