Ellen Green wins Business of the Year for Blue Badge Company at Women in Business Awards 2016
“We’ve watched our women-led businesses grow along with the awards. It’s lovely to see last year’s Young Entrepreneur winner Ellen Green returning to win the Business of the Year category this year with her Blue Badge Company.” – Sarah Pullen, Managing Director, Bristol Post Ellen Green Winner Business of the Year Women in Business Awards 2016 We’re extremely proud to announce that our founder and director Ellen Green won Business of the Year at last night’s Bristol Post Women in Business Awards, presented by Sarah Pullen at the city centre Marriott hotel. It was a great evening spent alongside female entrepreneurs and businesswomen who are making a real impact in the South West. The other finalists in our category were Anna Pepler of the HR Dept and Elke Dittrich of DVH Architects. The award for Woman of the Year went to Vashti Seth for her incredible work with the charity she founded, Deki, which provides micro loans to people in developing countries so they can start businesses, helping them to in turn help grow their economy. The WIBAs are a fantastic way to celebrate women’s achievements in a variety of industries and this year’s winners reflect the important work that’s being done in the region regarding disability and disease. The Customer Service Award went to Margaret Hook, who owns Banwell Village Pharmacy and has run pioneering programmes to detect early signs of dementia among her customers. It’s brilliant that potentially life-changing work like this is being recognised, very well done Margaret! We were also really excited for Samantha Payne who won Young Entrepreneur of the Year for her business Open Bionics. The open-source company is doing vital research at the Bristol Robotics Lab to develop bionic hands for amputees using 3D modelling and printing techniques to dramatically cut the costs. Samantha also secured a royalty free licence agreement to produce Disney hands for child amputees - based on characters from Marvel, Star Wars and Frozen, which we absolutely love!
