Using your Blue Badge Permit and where you can park
A Blue Badge will help you park closer to your destination, either as a passenger or a driver.
Blue Badge holders may park on single or double yellow lines for up to three hours in England and Wales, except where there is a ban on loading or unloading. (Excepting City of London)
There is no time limit for parking on yellow lines in Scotland.
Where a time limit is in force, you must display both the Blue Badge and the parking clock, set to show when you arrived. Use a Blue Badge Wallet to ensure these are both clearly visible.
Badge holders may park for free and for as long as they need to at on-street parking meters and pay-and-display machines. (Excepting City of London)
While the scheme operates throughout the UK, there are small variations in its application in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Blue Badge holders can also park in council car parks either free and unlimited, or at reduced prices, or for longer periods. Check the information given by the pay and display machine at each carpark, although rules tend to be the same across each county.
Parking Timer In England and Wales
When you park on yellow lines or another place where there is a time restriction, you need to display the parking disk to show your time of arrival. The disk is sent to you with your Blue Badge. These disks wear out very easily, this is helped by using a Blue Badge Wallet. All of our stylish wallets come with a free parking timer clock, if you need a new one you can purchase it separately here.
If you need to use a parking disk/clock, you must display the disk on the vehicle’s dashboard or facia panel, so that the time can be seen clearly through the front windscreen. If there is no dashboard or facia panel in your vehicle, you must still display it in a place where it can be clearly read from outside of the vehicle. Using a Blue Badge Wallet helps ensure your timer and badge are both clearly visible.
You do not need to display a parking disk/clock when visiting Scotland.
